INTRODUCTION:

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data from surrounding environments using embedded sensors, processors and communication hardware.

HISTORY:

The definition of iot has evolved due to convergence of multiple technologies,real time analytics,machine learning and embedded systems.The first application of iot is the invention of a coke machine in the year 1982, at carnegie mellon university.This machine was able to report its inventory and whether newly loaded drink were cold.

APPLICATIONS:

One of main application is smart city. Major aspects of a smart city are: Smart parking, Intelligent transport system, Tele-care, Woman Safety, Smart urban lighting, Waste management, Smart city maintenance, Water Management.
